Abandoned Farm and April Treeline

I was still working on trying to capture that early spring transition in the woods when the leaves are just coming on in some of the trees.   There are some big problems with this piece, but it was good practice.  I'll try again next year.

Ben's Glade

Watching the trees leaf out gently in the woods is a beautiful thing.  Trying to capture that on paper is a real challenge.  There are more greens in the original work and the camera missed them, but you get the idea here.  Lots of raw umber and pale greens and pinks.

Late March, Rusty Roof - Finished

It's finished.   I added the fence and the wire, and the shadows of the fenceposts.   I strengthened the purples in the henbit along the road and added some stones and texture.   I put doors in the barn.   I decided to leave the pasture as it was with no extra texture.   It's a quiet place for the eye and shows sunshine quite well.  Nothing there to slow the eye going straight to the little shed with the rusty roof.

I'll be doing more big paintings.  I like the challenge of filling all that space with paint.
