Fiber Event at Greencastle, Indiana

I've been scrambling the past few weeks to get ready for one of our favorite shows of the year, April 15-16, 2016.  - The Fiber Event at Greencastle, Indiana.

It's a great show.  Beautiful area, super friendly vendors and customers.   We always meet the most interesting people there and we learn something new every year.

I've got a lot of yarn in a couple of new colors this year.  Here's one of them - Blue Peacock.  I hope you can stop by the booth and see it yourself.   We'll be in the Community Building.

The Fiber Event at Greencastle

This weekend is The Fiber Event at Greencastle, Indiana.    Putnam County Fairgrounds.

April 20-21, 2012
Friday 10:30-7
Saturday 9-5

Free admission.   Loads of vendors of all kinds of products for knitting, crochet, spinning, weaving, felting, hooking, etc.    Animals to look at.  Good food to eat.   This is one of our favorite shows of the year.

A bonus is that the weather is usually cooler, so everyone is wearing the beautiful things they've been making lately.   It's a constant fashion show.

Come see us in our booth in the Community Building!   We'll be selling hand dyed yarns and some gorgeous alpaca batts with all sorts of sparkling surprises in them.    I'll also have a box of white cones that I'm ready to let go of - some nice fine rayon seed and a natural fluffy, cotton boucle.   They'll go fast, so if you're interested, come early.

If you want me to bring something special for you, email me [email on the sidebar] and I'll have it ready and waiting for you.

See you there!

We're on the air in 5, 4, 3...

Remember when the crew from The Weekly Special came to the studio to interview me?  Well, tonight's the big night!   In just a few short hours, you can see me in my studio doing what I do best - getting color all over everything.

Here's the link to the Weekly Special's episode on the fiber arts.   The program airs tonight, May 5, 2011 at 8 pm Eastern Daylight time.

I'll let you know when they've posted the video stream online.

Greencastle

Here's a quick re-cap of the weekend.

FUN!

Fiber festivals are great places to get a good overview of what kinds of things people are doing in the fiber world.   There were spinners, weavers, knitters, crocheters, basket weavers, rug hookers, felters, tatters, bobbin lace makers, beader, dyers, and on and on and on.   There were sheep and goats and fleeces of all kinds.   There were books and patterns.   There was every kind of equipment that you would ever need to do anything fiber:   looms, wheels, carders, needles, punches, hooks, frames and on and on and on.

Here are a couple pics of our booth.

We have a lot of yarn.    You could probably tell that.

And yes, I do dye it all, myself.    If it has color on it, I put it there.

One of the great things about a Spring show is that the weather is cool, so people wear layers.  We always see a lot of beautiful handmade clothing walking around and it's fun to talk to the people who made it.   It makes me want to knit more sweaters and weave more shawls.

When I was packing up to go to the show, I came across a skein of handspun that I thought turned out really well.  Instead of selling it, I entered it into the skein competition.  [Category:  Experienced spinner; Novelty yarn]
I was very pleasantly surprised as there are some great spinners out there making some amazing novelty yarns - far better than mine.

The next show I'll be at is the Hoosier Hills Fiberarts Festival on June 3-4, 2011 at the Johnson County Fairgrounds in Franklin, Indiana.    I hope to see you there!
