Shed & Redbud

© Robin Edmundson 'Shed, Redbud & Chickens', watercolor, 10 x 14 inches.  $375, framed.

One of the great things about being an artist is that we get to - [we are encouraged to!] - change reality so we get a better painting.  I love doing the same scene in different ways.

You saw the first version of this in the previous post.  I decided to put a redbud in behind the shed because redbuds are *everywhere* out here.  They mean spring is in full swing.

A little secret about my chickens.  I come from a family with a lot of girls.  6 chickens is me, my sisters and my mom.  5 chickens is me and my sisters.  3 chickens is me and my daughters.  Whenever you see chickens in my artwork, you know I've put my family in there.

January Thaw - Fog

© Robin Edmundson, 'January Thaw - Fog', watercolor, 14 x 10 inches.  $375, framed to 22 x 18 inches.

I forgot to post this one when it was fresh, but we're still seeing weather like this  --- super cold for a few days followed by warm rain.    The damp brings out the color in the field grasses and the bramble canes.  I love that.

Fog, fog, fog.

Wreath

We use a lot of barbed wire out here.  It does an OK job of keeping the animals in.   That rusted stuff is easy to find wherever the old fence rows are.  It's one of the reasons we never go bare foot around here.  The other reason would be all the multiflora roses.   It just pays to keep your feet covered.

A neighbor was replacing some fencing and I thought it was nice of him to leave this little wreath on one of the posts.

The original shabby chic.

What The Trees Hang Onto

This is a very big tree at the end of our road.   I've passed it thousands of times.

Sometimes I imagine that one day there will be a sign on it that says Honey!  with an arrow pointing down our way.

Someday.   Maybe.

In the meantime, I walk by it and say hello to the neighbors cows and then turn around and head back home.

We were picking up cans one day on our walk and looking more closely than usual at the debris around the tree and Eric noticed something.

Something blue that was not a beer can.

Can you see it right in the center of this pic?

It's the bottom section of a very old fence post.   The top is long gone - broken off.

I don't think the roots are going to let the bottom go any time soon.
