Bloomington Spinners and Weavers Guild Holiday Sale

In just two days we'll be all set up for you to come to the 2017 Bloomington Spinners & Weavers Guild show and sale.  We hold this show in conjunction with the Glass Guild and the Local Clay Pottery Guild as part of a larger Artisan Guilds of Bloomington event.

This year, as always, I'll have a booth full of hand dyed yarns and handwoven lovelies, like the handwoven / hand-dyed silk scarf above. 

Our area is downstairs to the left [west].   We have two whole rooms - make sure you get to them both.  So many beautiful things.   Sign up for our very generous door prizes when you arrive.

Framing...but not the house this time.

I'm counting down the days until the show [T minus 13 days].   So many things to get done!  Here are some recent pics of what I've been up to.

Framing.   I got all the tree studies framed and ready to go.   I'm so happy with how they look in the white frames!

...and more framing.   I do all of my own framing for anything 16 x 20 inches and under.   I have recently been reminded of the importance of sharp blades in the cutters.   I've never been so happy to see the mailman as the day I had to stop cutting in wait for the replacement blades.   [I'm well stocked now!]  These pieces will go in white mats with black frames.

My larger pieces go to a framer.   Just got these back.  I was so happy to find frames that go with the ones I've been using for the smaller ones.   This piece is 'Late March, Rusty Roof'  and is 28 x 34 inches.


The show is at The Vault at Gallery Mortgage in Bloomington, Indiana.  August 4 - September 29, 2017.   I hope you can come to the opening party on Aug 4th from 5:00 - 8:00pm.  I'd love to chat with you.  It's going to be a lot of fun!

It's that time of year again - Time to think about holiday gifts and winter projects.   Next weekend is the Bloomington Spinners and Weavers Guild Show and Sale, held at the Bloomington, Indiana downtown Convention Center in conjunction with the Local Clay pottery guild and the Bloomington Glass Guild.   Fine craft at its best!

I've been scrambling the past few weeks to get ready for one of our favorite shows of the year, April 15-16, 2016.  - The Fiber Event at Greencastle, Indiana.

It's a great show.  Beautiful area, super friendly vendors and customers.   We always meet the most interesting people there and we learn something new every year.



I've got a lot of yarn in a couple of new colors this year.  Here's one of them - Blue Peacock.  I hope you can stop by the booth and see it yourself.   We'll be in the Community Building.

Weaving, Weaving, Weaving...

The Bloomington Artisan Guilds show is coming up quickly.   Mark your calendars for Friday, Nov 6, 2015 from 4pm - 9pm  and Saturday, Nov 7 from 9am - 5pm at the Bloomington Convention Center on College Ave in downtown Bloomington, Indiana.   The weaving, glass and pottery guilds have joined together to create one fabulous show of the area's best fine craft.  

In preparation, I have been weaving, weaving, weaving to get ready.  

New this year:   Handwoven white alpaca shawls and fine black mohair shawls, both with glittery trim.   Also a new line of luscious bamboo and silk scarves in beautiful hand dyed colors. 

You'll find my hand-dyed yarns in silk, rayon, superwash/tencel, bamboo and a new line of organically grown cotton.   I'll have some rovings and ribbons as well.   Look for my two new colorways - Blue Peacock and Red Oak.

In addition, I'll have my regular lines of hand painted silk scarves, handwoven washcloth/soap sets and a glorious array of other weavings.

It's almost time for one of the best fiber shows of the year and we've been busy dyeing!  The Fiber Event at Greencastle, Indiana has three areas bursting with fiber, fleeces, rovings and yarns of all types and colors. Plus! equipment, books and tools for all kinds of fiber arts.

We'll have a booth there and you can see all of the newest yarns and come chat about your current projects.  Look for our booth in the Community building right in front of the stage.

We'll be bringing some new yarns again this year.   Check these out!

• Organic Cotton Boucle,  [sport/worsted weight].  225 yd skeins.  I'm dyeing the first 6 colors now to bring to the show. 
• Dove, cotton/rayon spiral, [fingering weight]. 300 yd skeins.  Beautiful, soft yarn with a thin rayon stripe running through it.  This is a perfect yarn for weaving lightweight, hot weather items.  I'll have the first 6 colors done for the show.
• Starlight,  rayon boucle yarn, [fingering/sport weight]. 150 yd skeins. This yarn has a lot of shine and twinkle in every loopy, twisty inch.   Great novelty yarn to pair with smoother yarns.   I love this stuff!
• Scribble, rayon boucle, [sport/worsted weight].  150 yd skeins. Very similar to the Organic Cotton Boucle, only this is all rayon.   Great sparkle, great drape.  
• Moonbeam, rayon tape/ribbon.  150 yd skeins.   I've had a bunch of requests for this yarn in smaller quantities, so here you are!    This is a great yarn for kumihimo.

In addition, we'll be emptying our Etsy store and bringing it all with us.  Hand dyed yarns of all types!  As always, we'll have a bin or two full of beautiful hand dyed cotton rovings and tencel rovings, too.   A lot of people have been using these with needle felting - including in dreadlocks!

Holiday Art Fair and Bazaar

This weekend is our last show of the year and it's one of our favorites.   The show is packed full of local artists working in pottery, weaving, woodworking, glass, jewelry, etc.   There's a fabulous cookie walk and bake sale, a book sale, a white elephant sale...  It's one of the most fun weekends of the season!

2014 Bloomington Fiber Art Show

Next month is the annual Bloomington Spinners and Weavers Guild Fiber Art Show.    It's one of the best shows of the year and this year we're making it even better! 

We always have this show the same weekend and in the same area as the Local Clay pottery show and the Glass Guild show.   This way, our customers can hit all three shows easily.

In order to make it even easier for customers to get to all three shows, the three artisan guilds have combined forces and moved the shows to a single location in downtown Bloomington.   All three shows are under the same roof - at the Bloomington Convention Center at the corner of College and 3rd St.    And we've extended the hours a bit, too!

Holiday Shopping

'Tis the season of holiday art fairs and Unitarian Art Fair and Bazaar is one of the best ones in Bloomington, Indiana.  And it's coming up next weekend!  [Hours in the pic at left]

It's a fantastic little art show, highlighting local artists and let me tell you our local artists are amazing.   You can find glass, paintings, pottery, fiber, mosaic, wood ....  The hardest part is choosing.

We'll be there with bells on, so come on by and see us.  I'll have hand dyed and handwoven scarves and shawls, hand painted silks, hand made soap and handwoven washcloths and towels.  [This is not a yarn show but if you need some yarn, let me know ahead of time and I can bring it for you to pick up.]   We look forward to seeing you!

I've added a little local show to our schedule this holiday season.    Come see me at the Country Marketplace at Linton City Park [right off Hwy 54] in Linton, Indiana.   We'll be in the east [stone] shelter.  Saturday, Nov 23, 2013 from 9am - 3pm.   I'll have soap and soap sets, along with some silks, weavings and hand dyed yarns.   If you'd like to pick up something specific at the show, let me know and I'll bring it for you.

4th St Festival of the Arts and Crafts

Next weekend [Labor Day weekend] is the 4th Street Festival of the Arts and Crafts in Bloomington, Indiana.   Two days of truly amazing fine art and fine craft all up and down 4th St. in downtown Bloomington.   It's one of the cultural highlights of the year in this area and is a nationally lauded art fair.   You don't want to miss it.

Hoosier Hills Fiber Festival

It's almost time for the Hoosier Hills Fiber Festival, in Franklin, Indiana. This is one of our favorite shows of the year.  Two days of fiber heaven the first weekend in June in the heart of Indiana, just south of Indianapolis.

It's Show Time

Our last show of the year is this weekend at the Unitarian Universalist Church in Bloomington, Indiana.    I'll be selling my soap and soap sets, painted silks and hand-dyed handwoven scarves and shawls.   There are a lot of wonderful local artists coming, plus a fabulous cookie walk and a homemade gourmet baked goods and goodies sale.  Plus soups and sandwiches.  Plus a white elephant sale.   It's a lot of fun.   Stop in and say hello!
