Alpaca Fleece

Confession:   I have a weakness for alpaca.   I'd have the animals themselves, if we had the fences, but we don't, so I don't, so instead I buy fleeces.  

I'm a sucker for silver fleeces. 

This is the silver alpaca fleece I bought at Hoosier Hills Fiberarts Festival last weekend from my friend Tom Burkhart at WindChime Alpacas.   

Yep.   2.3 or so pounds of silver alpaca gorgeousness.  

The fleece is actually a darker gray than it looks in the pic.  I washed it right away and now it is awaiting me and my wheel. 

I'm thinking maybe fine singles, then a 2 ply so I can weave up a shawl.   Or make a sweater. 

If I spin fine enough yarn, maybe I can make a shawl and a sweater.   Yeah.
