One of the nice things about getting a place in the country that's been there for a long time is the old-fashioned flowers that come with it.    We see lots of very old varieties of iris, daffodils, peonies, flowering bushes, etc.

We inherited some wonderful old peonies, a pathetic forsythia, which we tore out, and these gorgeous lilacs.

They smell divine.

Divine, divine, divine.

  1. At our old house in town, we had a lovely lilac tree. We transplanted one of the babies out here when we moved and the cursed deer have since eaten the thing. I'm soooo sad.

  2. I was very sad to hear my mom tore out her lilac bushes! I loved going home and smelling them. I'm glad someone is still enjoying some.
