From the Garden

This is just part of our morning harvest:
  • Japanese pickling eggplant
  • Rhubarb
  • Dragon Tongue beans
  • New Russet potatoes
We also got some strawberries, one tomato, green beans and some cilantro.

What have you eaten from your garden?

  1. Must tell you I put the dragon tongue beans in my salad...raw...delicious! And they stay pretty, too! :)

  2. I buy my stuff at the farmers market. Not nearly as satisfying, but alot less work.

  3. JE - Great idea about the dragon tongue beans on salad! I wouldn't have thought of that.

  4. The thing I'm most excited about is the sweet corn! We had our first meal of it the day before and will have another meal tomorrow. Yay! :)

  5. Teresa-we have never even tried corn. Between the raccoons and the deer and the turkeys, we figured we didn't have a snowball's chance in Florida to eat much, so we get it from the farmer's market.

    Do you fence yours?

  6. Oh, yeah, we definitely fence ours. Have you seen our main garden before? It has 27 3x10 ft plots surrounded by 8 ft high deer fencing. Because it's floppy on the top, the raccoons won't scale it, and that is the only reason why we've been able to grow sweet corn. Scott also started a smaller planting outside the main garden area, and he put up 3 ft high electric fencing around that, which seemed to work too.
