Carrots

I grew carrots from seed this year.

They are woody and very bitter.

At least they grew.

The end.

  2. Hmm. Weird. I grew carrots from seed one year. Planted them in a square-foot gardening box we built in the backyard. They tasted fine, but apparently my box was too shallow. All the carrots turned left at the bottom.

I remember everything from your gardens being divine. Wonder what was up with the carrots this year. Not enough rain, maybe?

  3. I read somewhere that because of the drought this year, certain foods like carrots and onions would be more bitter/pungent and others like fruits and tomatoes would be more sweet.

    1. I'll bet you're right. The heat probably had a lot to do with it. Our onions are REALLY strong.

  4. I don't know that hubby ever green carrots this spring. He has, however, planted them for the fall. I spent a back-breaking hour out there with son2 yesterday weeding dead nettle out of the bed. :P And I couldn't tell the dill from the carrots when they're a mere 8 mm tall. Bummer that yours were so bitter.
